Rodney Davis Sworn into 114th Congress
U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.) today was sworn in as a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives for the 114th Congress during a ceremony on the floor of the House on Tuesday, January 6, 2015. This is Davis’ second term in Congress.
“I am honored to be sworn in for a second term and for another opportunity to serve the people of Illinois’ 13th Congressional District,” said Davis. “This oath is one that I take very seriously and will continue to uphold by supporting and defending the Constitution of the United States.” The text of the Oath of Office is as follows: “I, (name of Member), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.” Davis was joined on the floor by his children, Toryn, Clark and Griffin, while his wife, Shannon, watched from the House Gallery.
