U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.) today received his subcommittee assignments for the 114th Congress.
“I am honored to have another opportunity to serve on both of these committees, which have a history of bipartisanship and a proven record of success,” said Davis. “Agriculture and transportation issues are essential to a strong economy here in Illinois and nationwide. Although each committee will face new challenges as we seek to improve the future of American agriculture and craft policy to build a 21st century transportation system, I am confident that just as we passed a long-term Farm Bill and water reform legislation last Congress we can continue this record of success.”
For the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, Davis will serve on the following subcommittees: Aviation, Highways & Transit, and Water Resources & Environment.
“Congressman Davis’ leadership on transportation issues over the last two years has been instrumental in helping the committee pass a long-term water reform bill and other legislation important to growing our nation’s economy,” said U.S. Rep. Bill Shuster (R-Pa.), chairman of the House Committee on Transportation & Infrastructure. “His work to create more opportunities for public-private partnerships will not only save taxpayer dollars but also help alleviate the backlog of water projects. I look forward to his continued leadership as we work to pass a long-term highway bill and legislation to transform the future of aviation.”
For the House Committee on Agriculture, Davis will serve as chairman of the Subcommittee on Biotechnology, Horticulture, and Research. He will also serve on two additional subcommittees including the Subcommittee on Nutrition and the Subcommittee on Commodity Exchanges, Energy, and Credit.
"Congressman Davis has proven himself to be a strong leader on agricultural issues during his first term," said U.S. Rep. K. Michael Conaway (R-Texas), chairman of the House Committee on Agriculture. "His work on the Farm Bill conference committee helped ensure passage of a long-term bill vital to our nation's farmers and livestock producers. He has earned a leadership position on the House Committee on Agriculture. As Chairman of the Subcommittee on Biotechnology, Horticulture, and Research, he will do great things for agriculture in the 114th Congress."
Additionally, Davis received a third committee assignment for the 114th Congress. He will serve on the Committee on House Administration, which is charged with overseeing federal elections and day-to-day operations in the House.
“I am honored to welcome Representative Rodney Davis to the Committee on House Administration," said U.S. Rep. Candice Miller (R-Mich.), chairman of the Committee on House Administration. "Representative Davis brings a significant knowledge of House operations and government experience to our Committee, and I know together we will bring effective improvements to the way the House operates, as well as strengthen and protect the integrity of our nation’s system of open, free and fair elections.”
