Congressman wants to help people get jobsWCIA, by Anna Carrera
An Illinois congressman wants to help people who are out of work. Republican Representative Rodney Davis reintroduced his "Opportunity Knocks" proposal. The program would help unemployed workers get the training they need to find new jobs. He originally brought it up two years ago, but he says there's a better chance for it to go through this time around.
"It's going to allow the state of Illinois, under Governor Rauner and the department of commerce and economic opportunity, to actually put forth a new plan that hopefully will provide more flexibility and ensure that our citizens who are unemployed right now, our families who don't have jobs, have training activities that are going to be close to where they live and are going to lead to a job," said Davis, who is the 13th District Representative for Illinois. Davis says his proposal would simplify the process and make sure current programs are working. Video is available by clicking here.
