Davis Statement on President Obama’s Rejection of Keystone XL
Washington, DC – U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.) today released the following statement after President Obama announced he will reject the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline.
“Today, President Obama chose politics over people,” said Davis. “I’m certainly not surprised by his decision but I am extremely disappointed. We continue to see the impact this administration’s attack on our energy sector is having on Illinois families. It seems like every other week there is another announcement about a coal mine or power plant forced to close because of new rules and regulations coming from the Executive Branch. Instead of encouraging energy independence and job growth within this industry, the president continues to placate his political base.”
The Keystone XL pipeline has the support of business and labor groups alike and is estimated to create more than 40,000 jobs. Davis has long been a supporter of Keystone XL and has called on the president to approve its construction. Click here to view his speech.
