ICYMI: Davis Urges EPA to Implement 2014 Farm Bill Provisions to Help Administrator’s Goal of Gaining Farmers’ Trust
U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.), at a recent House Agriculture Committee hearing, urged the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Gina McCarthy to implement provisions he authored in the 2014 Farm Bill to help the administrator’s goal of gaining trust among farmers.
During the hearing, Administrator McCarthy admitted the agency had ‘a lot of work to do’ to improve relationships with the agriculture community. Davis’ provision to create an agriculture subcommittee within the EPA’s Science Advisory Committee was signed into law as part of the 2014 Farm Bill. However, two years later, Administrator McCarthy reveals little headway. Davis suggests that the lack of progress on this issue may be adding to the disconnect between the EPA and agriculture sector.
