Davis Votes to Make Capitol More Family-Friendly for Visitors
U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.), member of the Committee on House Administration, today voted to make the U.S. Capitol complex more family-friendly for visitors. Davis advocated for provisions to be added to H.R. 5325, the Legislative Branch Appropriations Act, which passed the House today, to make it easier for families with young children to visit the U.S. Capitol and House and Senate office buildings. “After our twins were born, Shannon and I quickly learned how important family-friendly accommodations were when we traveled anywhere with our three young kids,” said Davis. “I want to make it as easy as possible for parents with young children to be able to visit our nation’s Capitol building. This bill ensures taxpayer dollars are spent efficiently and effectively to update these historical buildings to include additional baby changing stations and other accommodations important to families visiting with young children.” Specifically, H.R. 5325 includes language to add more changing stations for parents, additional parking for expecting mothers, and private areas for nursing mothers. Davis is a member of the Committee on House Administration, which is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations of the House of Representatives. |
