Decatur Family Recognized as ‘Angels in Adoption’ in Washington, DC
– U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.) today announced that Pastor Chadwick Anderson of Decatur’s Moundford Free Methodist Church and his wife Sarah Anderson were recognized as 'Angels in Adoption' this week in Washington, D.C. Davis nominated the Anderson family for the program in May after helping them put pressure on the Congolese government to finalize their adoption.
“We owe so much to families who open their homes to children in need,” said Davis. “Like many who adopt, this was a long process for the Anderson family to finally bring Phoebe home. It was great being able to honor the Andersons and celebrate their new family out in DC this week.”

The Anderson family began the adoption of their daughter, Phoebe Benedicte Anderson (age 4), from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) in 2012. With the help of Davis’ office, the family finalized the adoption four years later in April 2016. Davis’ office helped the family put pressure on the Congolese government and expedited the family’s I-600 form, which is needed for an adoptive child to enter into the U.S. CLICK HERE to see a video of Phoebe’s arrival into the United States.
