Davis Announces 2017 Congressional Art Competition Winner
U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.) today announced that JT Boehme, a junior at Taylorville High School, was selected as the winner of this year’s 13th District Congressional Art Competition.
Boehme's submission, "Processing Nature,” was selected by judges, Sharon Bly, Adjunct Professor of Art at Lewis & Clark Community College and Lindsey Becker from the Jacoby Arts Center in Alton, IL, from among 40 entries submitted by area high school students. The artwork will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. for one year. Boehme will also be invited to attend the official ceremony honoring Congressional Art Competition winners from across the country this summer in Washington, DC.
The two judges also selected second and third place winners whose art work will be on display in Davis' district offices.
Aubree Borror, a senior at Gillespie High School, was selected as the second place winner with her submission, "Natural Beauty," and Victoria Hart, a senior at Taylorville High School, was selected as third place winner with her submission, "First Model."
Additionally, the "fan favorite" chosen by Davis' Facebook followers was JT Boehme with his submission, "Writer's Block."
