Davis Hosts Open Office Hours in Normal
Helps Vietnam Army Veteran Receive Medal
U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.) today hosted open office hours in Normal where he met with several constituents, including members of the American Legion Post 635.
Davis notified Sergeant Eugene Dalton, a veteran of the Vietnam War from Normal, that he will finally receive the Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB) for his satisfactory performance of duty while under hostile fire on January 1, 1969. Davis' office helped Dalton obtain the documents necessary to receive the medal he was awarded.
To be awarded the CIB, a soldier must meet the following three requirements:
(1) Be an infantryman satisfactorily performing infantry duties.
(2) Assigned to an infantry unit during such time as the unit is engaged in active ground combat.
(3) Actively participate in such ground combat. Campaign or battle credit alone is not sufficient for award of the CIB.
