Davis Hosts Workforce Training & Apprenticeship Roundtable
U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.) hosts a roundtable discussion on career & technical education (CTE), workforce training, and apprenticeships. Davis heard from representatives of labor, business, high schools, and community colleges.
Davis is focused on connecting more Americans with in-demand jobs and strengthening career and technical education. Currently, the U.S. has 6 million job vacancies.
House passed bills
In June, the House passed two bipartisan bills to strengthen workforce training and help more people on government assistance find work. H.R. 2353, the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century, and H.R. 2842, the Accelerating Individuals into the Workforce Act, passed overwhelmingly.
In addition, Davis has also introduced two bills to revitalize apprenticeships and encourage more workforce training for the unemployed. The LEAP Act uses tax incentives to encourage more companies to offer apprenticeship program and Opportunity KNOCKS Act prevents people who seek training from a program not approved under the Workforce Investment Act from being kicked off of unemployment.
