Davis to Attend Obama’s Visit to UIUC
U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.) today announced that he will attend former President Obama’s visit to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign tomorrow. The University of Illinois announced last week that former President Barack Obama will be this year’s recipient of the Paul H. Douglas Award for Ethics in Government. Obama is scheduled to address students and faculty at 11:00AM CDT at the Foellinger Auditorium on campus.
“It’s an honor when any sitting or former President of the United States visits the 13th District,” said Davis. “President Obama’s decision to receive the award at UIUC says a lot about President Killeen, faculty, and students. I look forward to joining them in welcoming President Obama to campus. I’m proud of this prestigious campus and I was honored to participate in Vice President Joe Biden’s rally against sexual assault on college campuses in 2015. While President Obama and I certainly have our policy differences, I was fortunate enough to be able to work with his administration on issues like trade, transportation, human trafficking, cancer research, and others.” Related: Davis Participates in “It’s On Us” Rally with VP Biden at University of Illinois Bill to Fund ‘Cancer Moonshot,’ Accelerate Medical Treatments, & Reform Mental Health Passes House Davis/Bost Provision to Strengthen Trade Enforcement Heads to President’s Desk Reps.
