Davis Announces 2019 Congressional Art Competition Winner
U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.) today announced the winner of the 2019 Congressional Art Competition for the 13th District. First place was awarded to Kaelyn Albert, a junior at Mt. Zion High School, second place went to Alana Brown, a sophomore at Urbana High School, and third place was awarded to Zachary Cable, a student at the LCCC YouthBuild in Godfrey.
The first place submission will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. for one year and be invited to attend the official ceremony in Washington, DC. Additionally, second and third place submissions will be displayed in Davis' office.
The winning submissions were selected by a panel of judges, including Lisa Costello, Director of the Giertz Gallery at Parkland College, Jon Seydl Director of Krannert Art Museum at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and Mikki Bell and Charolette Archer with the Inside Out Accessible Art Co-Op in Bloomington.
The 21 submissions for this year's competition were on display at the Giertz Gallery Lounge at Parkland College from May 1-3.
