Statement on Administration’s Health Care Announcement
U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.) released this statement after the Trump administration finalized a rule that is expected to expand health care coverage to more than 800,000 workers. The rule finalized by the Department of Labor, Department of Treasury, and Health and Human Services will allow small and mid-size employers to offer employees tax-free money to purchase Obamacare plans or supplemental plans for group insurance. The rule aims to help with the decline in small businesses being able to provide employees with health insurance.
“I applaud this administration for taking this step to increase health care options for the American people, said Davis. "I have continued to work to increase employer health care options for working Americans and this furthers that goal. We still must do more to lower costs and make health plans more affordable for hard working American families, but this will help more small businesses provide health care coverage to their employees.”
Davis continues to fight for affordable health care for his constituents, including for people with pre-existing conditions. This week he offered an amendment to protect pre-existing coverage. Unfortunately, that amendment was rejected by House Democrat leaders and was not allowed to be considered on the House floor.
