Davis Announces Open Government Nights
U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.) today announced he will be launching "Open Government Nights" a series in conjunction with state lawmakers to allow constituents an opportunity to hear directly from their elected officials at the state and federal level on important issues. The first event will be held in Decatur with State Representative Dan Caulkins (R-101).
"Ensuring constituents have an opportunity to hear directly from their elected officials continues to be my priority," said Davis. "Open Office Hours allow me to have personal, one-on-one conversations with people about the issues they care about. Open Government Nights will allow people to discuss issues facing our government at the state and federal levels. I'm looking forward to discussing these issues next Monday night."
"I'm happy to join with Congressman Davis for Open Government Night to discuss issues of importance to Central Illinois families. This event gives us the opportunity to listen to constituents' concerns and have a discussion about what's going on in Washington, D.C. and in Springfield," said Caulkins.
Open Government Nights will be free and open to the public. Seating will be on a first-come, first-serve basis for constituents.
Davis has hosted 68 Open Office Hours, where constituents meet with him one-on-one or in small groups, and his staff has held 106 Traveling Help Desks, where they help constituents with casework or take down policy concerns, during his time in Congress.
