Normal, IL - U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.) today announced he will be hosting his third Open Government Night following two events held in Decatur and Champaign recently with a combined 500 constituents in attendance. The series is in conjunction with state lawmakers to allow constituents an opportunity to hear directly from their elected officials at the state and federal level on important issues. The third event will be held in Normal with State Representative Dan Brady (R-Bloomington).
"Ensuring constituents have an opportunity to hear directly from their elected officials continues to be my priority," said Davis. "Open Office Hours allow me to have personal, one-on-one conversations with people about the issues they care about. Open Government Nights allow people to discuss issues facing our government at the state and federal levels. I'm looking forward to discussing these issues next Monday night."
"Open Government Nights are really ‘one stop shopping’ for local residents to learn more about what’s happening in Congress and in the Illinois General Assembly,” said Brady. "It is also an opportunity to ask questions or talk with Congressman Davis and I about a problem we may be able to help them with."
Open Government Nights are free and open to the public. Seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis for constituents.
So far in 2019 Davis has held 11 Open Office Hours and 2 Open Government Nights covering 13 different counties. Throughout his tenure in Congress he has hosted 77 of these events total. Additionally, this year his staff have hosted 29 Traveling Help Desks, where they help constituents with casework or take down policy concerns, covering 12 counties. There have been 113 of these constituent service events over Davis' tenure.
