Davis Congratulates Central A&M High School Football Team
U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.) congratulates the Central A&M High School football team on their IHSA Class 1A state runner-up title.
Davis' written remarks: I rise today congratulate Coach Brent Weakly and the Central A&M High School football team on their IHSA Class 1A state runner-up title. Last week they played the Lena-Winslow Panthers, who won the championship game 58-20. This year was the team’s first year since 2001 that the Raiders have made an appearance at the IHSA State Championship and while they didn’t bring home a win, they held their heads high following last Friday’s game. A&M Quarterback Connor Heaton threw for 192 yards and two touchdowns. Connor, you’ve come a long way from your babysitting days in Taylorville. Receiver Jacob Paradee made 11 catches, a tie for most all-time in a Class 1A championship game. His 157 receiving yards broke a 1A record that was set back in 2006. All said and done, A&M had its best season in eighteen years. Coach Weakly said of his team, “Hats off to our kids, they kept competing [….] I’m really happy and proud of them." We’re proud of you too, Raiders. Congratulations on a great season. |
