Davis Announces Additional CARES Act Funding for Willard AirportU.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.) today announced additional CARES Act funding for the University of Illinois Willard Airport. The $147,000 grant will cover the local match requirement of a previously announced runway project. The $1,470,000 project will now be 100% federally funded. This comes on the heels of a $1,838,071 CARES Act grant announced in April to help it through the Coronavirus pandemic. "As we all know airports have been hard hit by the Coronavirus pandemic as travel for both business and leisure slows down," said Davis. "This additional CARES Act grant will completely remove the local share for this project making it 100% federally funded.” “As we continue to be impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, we are happy to receive the $147,000 in CARES Act funding to bring the project to 100% federal share," said Timothy Bannon, Executive Director, Willard Airport. This additional funding reduces our financial burden with this project, while still allowing us to move forward without delay.” Related: |
